I am always happy to workshop with people who are serious about writing for children. Together we can design a two or three-day event that will meet your needs. Sometimes writers ask me to come to their area and other times attendees fly and drive to Amicalola Falls State Park here in Georgia.

Each private workshop can accommodate 3-8 people. We can focus on the craft of writing across all genres: picture books, easy readers, or early chapter books. Some attendees are just getting started and others have written several manuscripts but aren’t sure how to revise and submit. A picture book intensive will be centered exclusively around writing and marketing picture books that will stand out in today’s market.
Interested parties need to email me with their intention to participate.

“I am leaving Lola’s Workshop with loads of valuable information about the craft of writing.”
“Inspiring, truthful, and practical information.”
“After three days of studying award-winning picture books, writing, and revising, I left with a completed manuscript.”
Manuscript Critiques and Coaching
Yes, I do offer manuscript critique and coaching services. I understand the immense amount of time and the effort that goes into every word of your writing. I know that you are a professional and I will respect your work and give it the careful consideration that it deserves. I am not a published poet and therefore not qualified to provide feedback on the strengths and weaknesses of poetry collections.
My fee for 1-5 pages of a typed double-spaced manuscript is $150. If you have a lengthier work, 6-10 pages, typed double-spaced manuscript, my fee is $200.00.
If you prefer that we go back and forth during the revision process, then you’re probably more interested in manuscript coaching and those fees vary depending on the project. Please contact me if you would like to discuss the length and content of these services.
