Unbelievable!

November 8, 2009

This fall has been unbelievable in many ways.

First, the beauty. Ted and I have been hiking, as usual, and the leaves have been extraordinary. It's so relaxing to walk along a trail that is speckled with every leaf color imaginable. Not only is it comforting to the eye, but the sound of dried leaves rustling beneath our shoes is soothing, as well. And home is no exception. No matter which window we look out, there's a view similar to this one with more leaves changing each day and others breaking free for their gentle glide to earth.

As many of you know, Ted and I are fairly new to Georgia. We're still exploring and are constantly surprised by the geographical diversity, as well as the hospitality and generosity of the locals. No matter where we visit - the coast, the mountains, the piedmont, the wetlands, we meet some of the most helpful people who offer their knowledge and insights to make our experience even more enjoyable. While living in the North, I always thought "southern hospitality" was one of those marketable slogans, long on charm and probably short on truth. Wrong. It is the south, at least it is Georgia through and through. It's unbelievable (and so welcoming) to know that wherever we travel in this state an open hand will be there to greet us.

Go ahead. Enjoy one of these last fall days before they disappear. Walk, hike, canoe, or cheer on the sidelines of your favorite team. Breathe the crisp air and grab a little unbelievable for yourself!
