Morning Hike

August 18, 2011

Ted and I took a break from work this morning and loaded Duke into the car. It took us a little while, but we found the trailhead for Springer Mountain which is the southern starting point of the Appalachian Trail. We hiked to Springer Mountain. What great views. It seemed as if we could see at least 100 miles out, maybe more. We only met one runner (yes, runner with weights) on the trail. He was taking a drink and ready to start his return leg of a 14 mile run. We weren't quite that ambitious today, however we are going back and soon. Next time we're packing a lunch and hiking eight miles on the AP.
Tall trees, blooming plants, outcroppings of rock and more fresh air than you can imagine!
